PFW (Polak Frutal Works) settled in 1914 in Amersfoort (Zaandam) directed by the brothers Jacob and Henri Polak. Already in 1916 a new factory was built at the South Nijverheidsweg . The company manufactured flavors and fragrances, initially by extraction from natural products such as fruits, later also chemical. In 1988 the company moved to Barneveld. Some years later the buildings demolished.
